Investigative, Interdisciplinary Global Health Journalism

Geneva Health Files is a unique, independent journalistic initiative on a mission to advance accountability in international health policy-making through investigative journalism

A Reader-Funded Independent Journalistic Initiative

A Reader-Funded Independent Journalistic Initiative

We are an independent investigative journalistic initiative working at the intersection of global health and journalism. Geneva Health Files provides rigorous critical analysis and insights on global health policy-making. We examine power and politics underlying global health to inform policy and contribute towards accountability in decision-making. By illuminating the actors and processes behind global health policies, our journalism scrutinises the motivations, priorities, and decisions in global health policy-making.

Interdisciplinary

We use a distinct inter-disciplinary approach to examine global health from the lens of politics, governance, law, economics and science.

Investigative

We try to cast light on closed door discussions, going beyond the headlines probing deeper in a consistent manner, while sifting through motivations and interests that shape global health.

Actionable Information

We inform experts including negotiators, diplomats, policy-makers, scholars, activists and the private sector, by providing information they can use.

Geneva Health Files Over Four Years

Since 2020, we have delivered top stories and become a leading international journalistic voice in global health. The timeline below captures our short history

    Geneva Health is Born 2020

We began self-publishing in April 2020, joined the City University of New York’s Entrepreneurial Journalism Creators Program and received The European Cross-Border Journalism Grants to report on COVID-19.

  • 2021

We established a paywall for our newsletter to monetise the actionable content we provide. Later, we launched our signature podcasts and introduced the Geneva Heath Files Fellowship Program.

  • 2022

In 2022, we won a grant from Open Society Foundations to report on global health negotiations. We published our first book, The TRIPS Waiver Negotiations at the World Trade Organization (October 2020- June 2022).

  • 2023
